Estate Planning

The PPA prepares simple wills and related life planning documents for active, dues-paying members with our annual Estate Planning Days offering 30-minute appointments at no cost.

The next Estate Planning Days are tentatively scheduled for October 18 and December 13, 2019.

  • Send your appointment request, via email, beginning at 12:00 AM on Wednesday, October 24.
  • Appointments will be scheduled in the order the email requests are received.
  • There is no need to call to see if you got an appt. We will contact members for scheduling between October 24-26.

In order to be eligible to participate, you must be an active, dues-paying Portland Police Association member in good standing.

Certain considerations may exclude participation, including the number of assets involved in your estate, the nature of your assets, or the complexity of family relationships impacting claims on the estate. Similarly, we will not provide any form of tax or estate planning in connection with the preparation of your simple will. If you need such services, you should retain your own attorney.

Once your appointment is scheduled, you’ll receive an email confirmation with the Estate Questionnaire to complete PRIOR and bring with you on Appointment Day. If you cannot make your appointment, please let us know in advance so we can offer your spot to the next member on the list.

There is no cost to a member for the preparation of the PPA member’s estate planning documents (will, power of attorney, and advance directive). However, if you wish to have estate planning documents prepared for a non-PPA member spouse or partner, the cost is $100 for a will, $50 for a power of attorney, and $50 for an advance directive.
