In Support of Dane Reister

Portland, ORE – December 13, 2011 –

The indictment of officer Dane Reister, who was taking legitimate police action is devastatingly wrong. This indictment is nothing more than an accusation and police officers should enjoy the same presumption of innocence as everyone else. Police officers do a tough and dangerous job every day and have earned the benefit of doubt with our blood and sacrifice. No one should come to any conclusions before all of the evidence is heard. This indictment was a bad decision that sends a bad message to all police officers. A criminal indictment was unwarranted in this case and the Portland Police Association offers Dane Reister our support in the hopes that he will be acquitted at trial.
